Thousands of climbers from around the world want to stand on the “Roof of Africa” and there are many reasons why people feel driven to conquer the lonely mountain.

If you are looking for one of the 7 Summits, this one is probably the easiest.

Don’t let that fool you.  Nothing is guaranteed, since some routes can have only a 50% summit rate.  It’s definitely a long trek and it’s easy for hikers to take that fact for granted.  Who Has a 98% Success Rate for All Routes?

Each route is of course different.  They vary based on length and ascent.  You can ascend quickly or slowly based on your acclimation.  If you don’t live at high altitude or aren’t highly trained, it’s never recommended to make a quick ascent.

Read on for more detailed breakdown of distance, ascent and itinerary of each individual route.
